In his book, Apostolic Church Planting, J.D. Payne points out: “When the church is shocked at a biblical model, it reveals just how far away from the Scriptures we have moved in our missionary practices.” His specific concern is for church planting models that focus more on attracting Christians from an existing church to a new church as opposed to the biblical model of drawing people from darkness to light through the proclamation of the gospel. 

In the PBA our goal is to engage lostness in such a way that those who have not yet heard the gospel will have an opportunity to hear and respond to God’s offer of salvation in Christ Jesus in a language and culture that they can understand. And then, those who do accept this message will be gathered together into faith communities where they can grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
